Who am I? A singer, a very enthusiastic musician who collects new instruments like Pokemon, a crafter, and mediocre DIY-er. I can’t fit it all in just one page. But I can tell you a little about my history with music!
I started taking piano lessons in the first grade, and have loved making music ever since! I inflicted my first vocal performance on all the parents who lived on my street in 1998. When I was just a budding singer, two of my neighbors and I sang over a karaoke tape of “My Heart Will Go On” (it was terrible but the parents said they loved it). I went on to sing in choirs for the next ~15 years, and played piano accompaniment to friends and classmates while they performed their instruments or sang.
I picked up the guitar in high school, and led the praise band at a summer camp for 7 years after that. Two instruments wasn’t enough, though. I’ve played hand bells, hand chimes, and the fife. I love playing all sorts of hand percussion from the djembe to the egg shaker. My current instrument menagerie includes the mandolin, piano, drums, guitar, melodica and xylophone. The washboard is next.
I just really love music – like, a LOT. It is the absolute joy of my life whenever I get to make music with and for other people. As a singer, I sing and play guitar in an emo cover band, and you’ll find me out playing at open mics, riffing along at bluegrass jams, or being goofy onstage at Mojam Mondays.
You can check out more about me and the musical shenanigans I get up to on my Instagram.
